Industrial Technology
Technics is an ideal subject for students who are interested in innovative practical work and developing lifelong skills.
Technics offers five areas of study. They are:
- Building Construction looks at woodworking and skills used in house building.
- Farm Maintenance (metalwork) looks at metal fabrication and skills used in the metal fabrication.
- Electronics looks at basic electronic skills and how these skills are used in everyday activity.
- Automotive looks at different forms of power and how this power is used.
- Leatherwork explores traditional skills used in leathermaking.
All Technology lobes are studied in Years 8, 9 and 10. Each lobe includes portable kits which contain the materials needed for practical work. All lobes are supported by regular field visits and our 'Mobile Workshop'.
Computer technology is included in all lobes and students are encouraged to design and produce their own projects.
