Food Technology is a popular contemporary course and appeals to students with a variety of interests. The course offers the opportunity to explore many different aspects of food production and processing. Students examine the effects of food processing on our diet, health and lifestyle.

Those who undertake the course develop a broad range of skills which are not only valuable in a student's personal life but may lead to many employment opportunities or on to further education.

There are many activities in the course. These relate to food preparation, experimental work with food, food styling and photography, planning and evaluating diets for good nutrition. Researching and analysing information and designing food products are also aspects of the course.

Course materials include well-illustrated texts, videos and audio cassettes with experimental and practical food exercises. In addition, those students who undertake the course do so with the guidance and assistance of the Food Technology staff.
