At SDEHS we offer Preliminary and HSC Ancient History courses.
Preliminary Ancient History focuses on recent developments and discoveries. Scuba diving, robots, computers are all tools of modern archaeology, and we examine how archaeologists use the latest technology to find out about the past, such as Jericho and Tutankhamun's tomb.

In HSC Ancient History there is a strong emphasis on Greek history because of its relevance to the development of western thought and democracy. Spartan society is studied in depth. The Personality section focusses on Xerxes of Persia.
The study of Ancient History can lead to a life-long interest in the subject. Overseas travel can also be enriched through a study of ancient times. Moreover, Ancient History is useful for a variety of careers including those of teacher, archaeologist, librarian, archivist and travel agent.
